ABOUT THE TEMPLE
The temple is
arranged in the north eat part of the perambakkam village. The south-bound
temple has a little gopuram at the passage way. The sannidhi of soleeswarar is

HISTORY OF THE TEMPLE
Kulothuga Sozha the
first had built this temple on the banks of the cooum waterway in 1112 A.D. The
archeological office had found more than 14 engravings at different places
around the temple. Throughout the years the name perumbakkam has changed into
its present frame as Perambakkam. At first the temple was called as ‘Kulothunga
Sozheeswararmudaiya Mahadevar’ Temple. Presently it is Known as Sri Soleeswarar
Temple.Various Telugu engravings were found near the temple subtle elements the
part of Vijaya Nagaram rulers in building the temple. Those engravings likewise

STORY OF THE PLACE
It
is heard that Perambakkam got this name from Ramayana Period, during Ramayana
war Ravanan was hiding in this place so, Rama decided to Kill Ravana. He made
one huge bow (In tamil ambu). The Exact meaning of that big bow tamil is
Payrambu ( mean big bow) & ( akkam means made). That bow was made in this
place only,after which this place got the name Perambakkam = Parambu + aakam.
SPECIAL POOJAS
